THE EVERGREEN HOME

Why should Energy Efficiency matter to you?

When we use less energy, we conserve our precious natural resources and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The result is reduced environmental impact, energy cost savings and a better quality of life.
At Evergreen Communities, we enhance every home we build with the products and practices designed to reduce energy use and provide maximum comfort. We are committed to working with you to protect our environment for today and future generations.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY IS BUILT-IN TO EACH HOME.

ADVANCED FRAMING SYSTEM

Based on the detailed construction of interior walls and 2”x 6” exterior walls, we are able to reduce the amount of lumber which allows us to install the most amount of high quality (R-19 rather than R-13) insulation. This will make it much easier to control the interior climate of your home.
HVAC EFFICIENCY

The HVAC Efficiency rating has increased from the 80% up to 92%. The cooling efficiency rating (SEER) increased from 13 SEER to 14 SEER. Designed with insulated ducts that are sealed and tested through the ENERGY STAR home inspection process.
TANKLESS WATER HEATER

Get an endless supply of hot water, whenever you need it – even for multiple tasks at the same time. Maximize efficiency and use up to 40% less energy than traditional hot water heaters.
ENHANCED CLIMATE CONTROL

We ensure your home is fully sealed and then we test for it with a third-party blower door test. The more efficient your home is, the less energy the home uses which is good for your family and your energy bills.
SOLAR ENERGY

State of the art solar photovoltaic system will be installed on your roof and maintained by a third party, V3 Electric. A solar photovoltaic system converts sunlight to energy to power your home’s electrical needs. Because the system runs on free, natural sunlight, the home will use less electric energy from the “grid” during sunny, daylight hours. The experts at V3 Electric will meet directly with you and discuss how this technology can significantly reduce your energy bills.
ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS

Dual paned SolarTherm Ultra windows with Triple Low-E coating. This special coating minimizes the amount of ultraviolet and infrared light that can pass through glass, keeping rooms cooler in warmer months and blocking heat from leaving in colder months.
THIRD PARTY INSPECTIONS

  • HVAC duct test
  • Refrigerant charge test
  • EER verification
  • Blower door test
  • Quality insulation inspection
  • Airflow verification
  • Fan wattage verification
  • Low leakage air handler

WHAT IS THE HERS INDEX?
The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the INDUSTRY STANDARD by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured. It’s also the NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance, similar to Miles Per Gallon for an automobile.
WHAT DOES A HERS RATING SAY
ABOUT A HOUSE?

The HERS Index MEASURES A HOME’S ENERGY EFFICIENCY and there are a lot of great reasons to have a home energy assessment performed on your house.
It can tell you so much about the home you live in, like how efficiently it’s operating and where you can make modifications for greater energy savings.
When you’re selling your home, a low HERS rating can command a higher resale price. And when you’re buying a home you can anticipate the costs of energy bills and efficiency upgrades.
HOW DOES THE HERS INDEX WORK?

  • A certified Home Energy Rater assesses the energy efficiency of a home, assigning it a relative performance score. The lower the number, the more energy efficient the home.
  • The U.S. Department of Energy has determined that a typical resale home scores 130 on the HERS Index while a standard new home is awarded a rating of 100.
  • A home with a HERS Index Score of 70 is 30% more energy efficient than a standard new home.
  • A home with a HERS Index Score of 130 is 30% less energy efficient than a standard new home.
